Wine Club!
As many of you know, Loreen and I simply love wine. Sure, we enjoy drinking it, after all, that would seem the primary function. However, what we really enjoy, and what has inspired us to create the Café le Grand Wine Club and Newsletter, is everything else associated with wine. Learning about all the grape varieties, the origins of the wines, how they are made, blended and grown; the stories of the winemakers and history behind the regions and vineyards. The memories which exist, and those that shall come to be. It’s simply not something to be enjoyed, but truly experienced and savored.
Through the ages food and drink have played a role in societal functions, and we see wine as something that’s even more involved. Wine celebrates, expresses love, brings friends closer, is cause for conversation and comparison, and really can become an event in itself. In the recent film Sideways, Miles (played by Paul Giamatti) laments over never having the right moment to open a special bottle of wine. The message that is put forth, is that opening the bottle alone is the right moment, and that the moment can be created by the special bottle of wine.
If you’ll join us in this
little endeavor, I think you will (re-)experience what wine is really about.
Rather than a simple, mildly intoxicating beverage, it is so much
more.
